The Story

Beyond the postcard.

Antalya curves along Türkiye's southern coast where the Taurus Mountains meet the Mediterranean in a collision of pine forest, ancient ruins and water so blue it defies description. The old quarter of Kaleiçi tumbles toward the harbour in a maze of Ottoman houses, stone fountains and narrow lanes hung with jasmine, while just beyond the city limits lie the great theatres of Aspendos and Perge, the clifftop ruins of Termessos, and the Lycian Way — a long-distance trail threading mountain villages, shepherd paths and hidden coves. This is where culture and coastline meet without compromise.

Signature experiences

A few Vroom moments

Theatre at Aspendos by moonlight

Attend a summer evening performance in a Roman amphitheatre where acoustics are so perfect a whisper on stage carries to the highest tier under stars.

Private boat to Kekova Island

Charter a gulet and sail along Lycian coastline where ancient cities lie half-submerged, visible through turquoise water as you anchor in secluded bays for lunch.

Düden Waterfalls at sunset

Watch the Düden River plunge directly into the Mediterranean from limestone cliffs, the spray catching golden light as the sun sinks toward the horizon.

Hillside village stay in Kaş

Base yourself in a whitewashed hillside town where cobbled lanes wind past bougainvillea-draped houses and the harbour below glows sapphire at dusk.

Local Secrets

A few things only locals know.

  • Walk the cliffs of Kaleiçi at dawn when fishermen cast nets from rocky points and the old harbour is still wrapped in silence.

  • Drive the mountain road to Olympos before noon and hike to Chimaera where natural gas flames have burned continuously from the earth for millennia.

  • Visit Aspendos Theatre late afternoon when tour groups depart and you can stand centre stage in one of the world's best-preserved Roman amphitheatres alone.

  • Take a boat from the old harbour to Kekova where Lycian tombs and half-sunken ruins shimmer beneath clear water along a protected coastline.

Best time to visit

April through October offers warm seas, reliable sunshine and ideal conditions for both beach days and exploring ancient sites. Late spring and early autumn balance comfortable temperatures with fewer crowds and softer light for photography. Summer brings peak beach weather and lively resort energy. Winter is mild but many coastal services close.

Good to know

  • Antalya city is a convenient base but resort-heavy. For quieter stays, choose Kalkan, Kaş or Çıralı along the Lycian coast.
  • Renting a car is essential for exploring ancient sites, mountain villages and hidden beaches beyond the main tourist corridors.
  • Modest dress is appreciated when visiting mosques and rural villages inland. Coastal areas are more relaxed but respectful coverage is always welcomed.
  • The Lycian Way offers day hikes and multi-day treks. Hire local guides for lesser-known routes and seasonal advice on trail conditions.
