Ephesus & Bodrum — Six Nights
Ancient world into whitewashed coast.
The Highlight
Why this journey
This is the Aegean at its most graceful — ancient marble rising from olive groves, then whitewashed peninsulas dotted with fishing villages and quiet coves. Ephesus alone is worth the journey, but the slow drive south to Bodrum, the boat trips, the market walks, and the long afternoons by the water are what make this itinerary feel like a proper escape. You return home sun-tired, culturally enriched, and quietly restored.
Day by day
How the journey unfolds.
Day 1
Arrival Izmir
Private transfer to Kuşadası.
Your driver meets you at Izmir airport and takes you south along the Aegean coast to Kuşadası, a relaxed harbour town overlooking the Ionian Sea. Your hotel sits on the waterfront, with balconies facing the waves and a rooftop terrace for evening drinks. After check-in, the afternoon is yours — stroll the marina, wander the old town's narrow lanes, or simply settle into a seafront café and watch the fishing boats return. The pace here is slower, the air salted, and the light golden.
Day 2
Ephesus + Şirince
Guided tour and vineyard lunch.
Your guide collects you after breakfast and drives you to Ephesus, one of the ancient world's greatest cities. Founded in the 10th century BC and once home to 250,000 people, it's astonishingly well-preserved. You'll walk the marble Curetes Street, stand in the 24,000-seat amphitheatre, and gaze up at the Library of Celsus, its columned façade still majestic. Then the Terrace Houses — the residential quarter of Ephesus's elite, with frescoes, mosaics, and underfloor heating still intact. Afterwards, you drive inland to Şirince, a hill village of whitewashed houses and family-run wineries. You'll taste fruit wines — peach, apple, pomegranate — and linger over a long lunch on a shaded terrace overlooking the valley.
Day 3
Transfer to Bodrum
Scenic private drive south.
Your driver collects you mid-morning for the scenic drive south to Bodrum, a whitewashed peninsula town that feels half Greek island, half Turkish Riviera. The road winds through olive groves and coastal villages, and by early afternoon, you're at your hotel — likely overlooking one of Bodrum's many coves, with a private beach, a poolside bar, and that particular Aegean light. The rest of the day is yours to settle in, swim, and feel the shift from ancient history to coastal ease.
Day 4-5
Bodrum coast
Half-day boat trip, market walk in Yalıkavak, beach afternoons.
Two days that move at the speed of the sea. One morning, you board a gulet for a half-day boat trip along the peninsula — swimming in hidden coves, sailing past rocky headlands, and lunching on deck with cold meze and fresh fish. Another morning, you visit the Thursday market in Yalıkavak, a sprawling, gloriously local affair full of hand-woven textiles, ceramics, spices, and produce. The afternoons are yours — beach, pool, nap, repeat. By evening, you're at a waterfront taverna in Gümüşlük or Türkbükü, feet in the sand, watching the sun sink into the Aegean.
Day 6
Farewell
Private transfer to Milas–Bodrum airport.
Your final morning is slow and easy. One last swim, one last breakfast facing the water, one last wander through Bodrum's whitewashed lanes. When it's time, your driver collects you from the hotel and takes you to Milas–Bodrum airport for your onward flight. You leave the Aegean with a stack of impressions — the marble of Ephesus, the wine of Şirince, the white light of Bodrum, and the quiet rhythm of the coast.
Local Secrets
What the guidebooks don't tell you.
Small, insider-only moments we quietly arrange for guests on this journey.
In Ephesus, ask your guide to show you the ancient public latrines — marble seats, running water, and graffiti still visible.
In Şirince, skip the main square and walk uphill to the smaller family wineries — tastings are generous and unhurried.
In Bodrum, take the dolmuş to Gümüşlük for sunset — a fishing village with tavernas on the water and zero pretence.
Ask your Bodrum hotel about the Thursday market in Yalıkavak — it's local, sprawling, and full of hand-woven textiles and ceramics.
Best time to visit
April to June and September to October are ideal — warm enough for swimming, cool enough for sightseeing. July and August are hot and busy, especially in Bodrum, but the sea is perfect and the tavernas stay open late. Winter is mild and quiet, with Ephesus nearly empty, though some beach clubs close until spring.
Good to know
- Ephesus is vast and mostly unshaded — bring a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes.
- The drive from Kuşadası to Bodrum takes around two hours — scenic, winding, and worth every minute.
- Bodrum nightlife can be lively in high season — choose your hotel neighbourhood accordingly.
- ATMs and pharmacies are plentiful in both towns, but carry cash for small villages and roadside stalls.
